2004 Audi A4 1.8T Ultra Sport...as clean as they come ... (Edward Young)
I had the same problem and it actually turned out to be the starter. Insulate with a piece of heater hose, to prevent further problems. Ever since then, the engine will crank but it will not start.
The car became harder to start although it will start eventually.
But, there are less things to troubleshoot than if it were cranking but will not start.
The "cam crank" sensor is the "reader" for position and speed of the camshaft. The continuous cranking when letting go of the key is normal. I checked the plugs all good, sprayed some starter fluid, put he plugs back and it cranked a lot better but that's all it did.
