From the owners manual it seems that the glove box USB connection is for backup and restore of your Music collection ONLY. I went to try it today and it seems that the plug in the glove box is some how attached to the glove box. Ya, the glove box connection sucks.
Probably easiest, then I still have the Ipod connector if I have a passenger that wants to hear their tunes.
