"Adaptive Cruise" terminology, did I get hosed by a dealer ... (Hester Ryan)
Adaptive cruise control (ACC) is an available cruise control system for road vehicles that automatically adjusts the vehicle speed to maintain a safe distance from vehicles ahead. Cruise Control is now a common feature of car technology in modern vehicles, maintaining a constant set speed - but Audi 's Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) raised the bar when it was introduced, with stop & go function and an automatic distance control system to go that extra mile. Traffic jam assist is a subsystem of adaptive cruise control (ACC) or adaptive cruise assist (ACA).
Adaptive cruise control takes that convenience a step further by allowing the driver to set a desired speed and following distance from any vehicle that may be ahead.
This is also known as Dynamic cruise control.
The central element of the Audi driver assistance systems is the adaptive cruise control with stop & go function, an automatic distance control system. I got it fitted, but the radar is unresponsive.
