I'm not sure if this is the case buy make sure that you have bulbs with the double contacts in the rear brake lights.

There are no removable panels in the boot like on slightly older models. A mechanic said timing belt slipped and top end needs Epc light was on with my Audi for long time. Sounds like your brake light switch is on its way out.
